It is interesting to me that while the economy is continuing to suffer, there is still some glimmer of hope for training in the online sector. The average learning expenditure per employee grew from $1,068 in 2008 to $1, 1081 in 2009 (The American Society for Training and Development, State of the Industry). And while training utilizing technology decreased in 2008, in 2009 it rebounded to 36.5 percent in 2009 with more than three quarters of that being online training. It would seem that companies are seeing a need to educate and train their employees with the help of technology (see chart below). This would make sense to me. Online education can lower your overall cost. And with the advent of all different types of media to aide in educational structure, the differences between online and face-to-face education is becoming less.
